Shopping is many people’s favorite indoor sport and Livingston County is fast emerging as a shopping destination with choices to satisfy just about everyone. Choices range from quaint stores, antique shops, larger chain retail and restaurant venues as well as an outlet center.
Historic downtown Howell is home to small stores, restaurants and boutiques housed in charming turn-of-the-century buildings that have been lovingly maintained or carefully restored. Officially designated a National Historic District and an official Michigan Main Street, downtown Howell is loaded with architectural gems set amidst a small-town warm and welcoming atmosphere. A treasure trove of shops features a wonderful assortment of goods from near and far including a winery, clothing, antiques, jewelry, gifts, home décor, specialty items and more.
The Tanger Outlet Center west of Howell has been the county’s largest single generator of visitors since 1996, drawing over 3.5 million visitors annually. Located just down the street from Tanger, antique lovers can browse the Livingston Antique Outlet, Michigan's largest contiguous indoor antique outlet showcasing 200 dealer booths under one roof.
