During the January 2018 Board of Trustees meeting, Joseph (Joe) Parker was confirmed as the new Chairman of the Board of Cleary University; a position elected by peers.

Mr. Parker has been a resident of Livingston County since 1988. Residing in Howell, he is a local entrepreneur owning Heart of Howell and 2FOG’s Pub in Downtown Howell as well as C&B Machinery in Brighton. He also sits on the Board for the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce.

Outgoing Cleary Chair Raymond King, the director of Global Product and Business Development, Global Sealing, Engine, and Underhood Services of Federal Mogul stated, “(Parker’s) the right choice for this position. Cleary University is in a good position to keep the University’s momentum and growth moving forward.”

Mr. Parker states, “It’s an exciting time for Cleary University. The current Board of Trustees is very strong and engaged in all aspects of Cleary University. Mr. King, and the entire Board, with President Dr. Jayson Boyers, have laid a solid plan for Cleary University; “The Cleary Mind”, which encompasses eight core attributes: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Creative Thinking, Communications, Persuasion, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Ethics. I am honored to be a part of that plan!”

“I look forward to working with our new Vice Chair, Kenneth J. Weingartz, Vice President of Parts and Services of Weingartz, and the entire Board of Trustees, staff, faculty, and students.”

There are so many great things happening at Cleary University. Cleary recently broke ground on their second student housing facility and a multi-use sports complex, both located on the Howell Campus. Cleary also has a new culinary kitchen being built, adding to their current and very strong Culinary program. Joe Parker said “I believe in our programs so strongly that I have two employees currently enrolled in the Culinary program here at the Howell Campus.”

Along with the exciting growth at the Livingston campus, the Ann Arbor Education Center continues to grow with a diverse group of students from around the globe. Cleary also has a new Education Center in Detroit, providing a well-rounded academic program for Wayne County and its surrounding areas.

“I have five grandkids growing up in Howell and I look forward to Cleary University being a part of their lives and their education”, says Parker.
