Howell Carnegie District Library hosts several summer adult events

LIBRARIES ROCK! Adult Summer Reading Challenge
Take the online Adult Summer Reading Challenge! Sign up starting June 1st, record your books, play games, enter prize drawings, and more through August 17th. Head to our website to sign up and for more information about the challenge and our music-themed programs because everyone knows LIBRARIES ROCK!

Adult Tabletop Game Nights
Every 1st Thursday of the month (June 7, July 5, & August 2, 2018), 6:00pm-8:00pm, Meabon Room
Game enthusiasts age 18+, come out for our monthly evenings of casual fun and games just for you! Bring your friends and meet some new ones. Drop in to play classic board games, card games, and discover new favorites. Play a few games, meet other like-minded gamers, and just have fun! Drop In, no registration required.

Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies Book Launch and Cherry Pie Bake-Off
Friday, June 8, 2018, 6:00-7:30pm, Reference Magazine Area
If you love reading mysteries and have a hankering for cherry pie, then this one’s for you! Come join the fun as our very own Reference librarian and nationally-acclaimed author Darci Hannah celebrates the release of her new novel, Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies, with an author talk, book signing, and hunt for the best cherry pie in Howell. Bring a baked cherry pie to compete for the coveted Gilded Cherry trophy and a signed copy of the book or just bring your enthusiasm for books and cherry baked goods. Marimba Concert
Tuesday, June 12, 2018, 7:00pm-8:00pm, East Library Lawn (Rain location: Meabon Room)
Join us for a lovely summer evening of music on the Library’s lawn! Performing selections from some of the greatest classical composers on his marimba, musician Paul Demick will share interesting facts about their lives and work, as well as his own musical journey. Drop In, no registration required.

Rockin’ Music Trivia Night
Thursday, July 19, 2018, 7:00pm-9:00pm, $10/person, Aberrant Ales, 219 W Grand River Ave, Howell, Max size: 150, Tickets available: 146, 4 tickets set aside for Facebook contest. Think you’re a star when it comes to music trivia? Then gather your team of up to 10 music trivia buffs and join us for an evening of friendly competition, brews, munchies, and fun hosted by Sporcle Live at Howell’s downtown brewery Aberrant Ales. For adults 18 years or older. Light pub fare included with your ticket; drinks available for purchase. Registration required and begins online Friday, June 1. Payment is due at time of registration.
