LACASA launches monthly ‘Within these Walls’ series

LACASA Center is launching a new monthly program that invites guests to learn about the agency’s work during an hour-long “Within these Walls” presentation.

The nonprofit organization is located in Howell and provides help and hope for victims and survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.

“We are opening our doors to the public so they can see how we help vulnerable children and adults from the community,” said Bobette Schrandt, LACASA president and CEO.

“The issues we face here impact everyone,” Schrandt said. “We want area residents to be informed about what is happening in our county and how they can make a difference.”

The new “Within these Walls” program is structured as an open house where guests learn about the work of LACASA and take a tour of the comprehensive center. LACASA provides 25 programs for victims and survivors of interpersonal violence.

The first event will be held Thursday, February 13, from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Other “Within these Walls” sessions will be conducted at varying times, including afternoon and evening hours. For a complete schedule, visit

“We encourage members of the community to come out and learn about one of the county’s largest nonprofits,” said Bonnie McArthur, LACASA development director. “The work that is being done here has a profound impact on the safety and well being of Livingston County.”

Guests are welcome to sign up for any of the monthly events and may invite family members, friends or colleagues to attend along with them. Donations are not accepted at “Within these Walls” sessions, they are strictly informational.

“We hope members of the community will come and get to know us,” said McArthur. “When people tour our facility they begin to understand the magnitude of our work. They also learn how they can help change lives right here at home.”

Guests may contact LACASA for event invitations that can be customized with a personal message. Private “Within these Walls” sessions also can be arranged for clubs, organizations or church groups, said McArthur.

LACASA’s “Within these Walls” program will run throughout the year. Livingston County residents may RSVP to any future events by contacting Bonnie McArthur at 517-538-1350 or emailing her at
