Joe Parker Announced as Cleary University’s Commencement Speaker

Joseph (Joe) Parker has invested in his community, advocated for innovation and entrepreneurship, and worked to address issues of business development and education in and around Livingston County.

Recognized for his entrepreneurial endeavors, Parker received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Central Great Lakes region and has been invited numerous times since to speak at entrepreneurial engagements for youth, community, civic, and global leadership groups.

Parker’s extensive portfolio of business development includes, but is not limited to, C&B Machinery, 2FOG’s Pub, Allen/Parker Investments, Heart of Howell LLC, and the Co-working Frontal Lobe. These ventures have and will continue to shape the fabric of the Howell community and greater Livingston County.

Cleary University President Dr. Jayson M. Boyers said in a statement that he is looking forward to Parker addressing one of the university’s largest graduating classes in the school’s 136-year history.

Boyers describes Parker as an “entrepreneurial inspiration for the students of Cleary University and the Livingston community at large. His story truly exemplifies the American Dream – an example of all of the great things that can happen through hard work, dedication, and a steadfast focus on family and relationships. He represents all that is good in a business climate that routinely gets criticized in our society. Our graduates are in for a real treat as Joe has an unmatched ability to inspire and entertain while maintaining a humble yet hungry tone in his messages.” Boyers added that “although Joe has achieved a great deal of success in his career; his greatest accomplishment has been his dedication to his loving family and community. Such should serve as a terrific example for our graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their professional business careers.”

Immediately following the speech, Cleary University’s Board of Trustees will bestow upon Mr. Parker an honorary doctoral degree.

Captain Patrick R. Cleary, Board of Trustee Nominating Committee Member, Cleary University, said in a statement that he is “thrilled” Parker will be Cleary’s commencement speaker.

Cleary exalted Parker as “one of the region’s most engaged and respected business leaders, a statesperson of creativity, ingenuity, innovation, empathy, and principle. It will be a privilege for Joe to join us at this year’s Commencement. I look forward to his address during this time when our graduates seek wisdom, insight, and inspiration from successful leaders of business and industry.”

Cleary University will host the spring commencement exercises at 10:00 a.m. on May 4, 2019, in the Johnson Center at 3725 Cleary Drive, Howell, Michigan.
