Volunteers needed for Livingston County’s 7th annual Community Connect

The Livingston County Homeless Continuum of Care will host its 2014 Community Connect event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Parker Middle School, 400 Wright Road, Howell.

Event planners are hoping for record crowds, as this annual community event connects local individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet with information and free services such as health screenings, legal consultation, food, clothing, person care items, haircuts, housing and utility assistance, and more.  Lunch and on-site, professional childcare are also provided at no cost.  No registration is required to access these services.

The event will require hundreds of community volunteers that day to help guests find the resources that they need, keep the facility clean and safe, provide directions, take-down after the event, and also set-up on Friday evening.

To register as an event volunteer, call Livingston County United Way at (810) 494-3000, or e-mail your request for a volunteer registration form to dgehringer@lcunitedway.org by Jan. 13.  Confirmation packets and work assignments will be sent prior to the event.  Orientation and a tour of the facility will also be provided prior to the event.

The event is incorrectly listed on your website !!

Community Connect is Sat 2/7…not 2/1.

The story about Community Connect you found is from last year’s event. We’ve not received info about it needing volunteers for this year. That said, I’ve “unpublished” the story so there won’t be any confusion. If anyone searches for it, it won’t be there.
